DR. ROBIE COLLINS WELCOMES YOU
I am accepting new clients and referrals for both in person and teletherapy sessions.
About me
I am a child and adolescent psychologist, licensed in North Carolina (and an authorization holder with PSYPACT) . I earned my Ph.D. in clinical psychology from the University of South Florida, an APA accredited program. I completed my APA approved internship program at the Luise De La Parte Florida Mental Health Institute followed by a Clinical Psychology Fellowship with the Hillsborough County School System in Tampa, Florida. Our family moved from Tampa to Greenville, South Carolina, in 2001 where I worked as a pediatric psychologist at the Greenville Hospital System Children's Hospital Outpatient Center for six years. I primarily saw client referrals from pediatric subspecialties, including developmental, behavioral, gastroenterology, neurology, endocrinology, hematology and oncology. In addition, I treated more standard child psychology clients referred by local pediatricians. When our family relocated to Charlotte, I transitioned to the role of a stay-at-home dad as our children adjusted to a new city and schools. When my kids were both in high school, I reentered the work force. I currently have a general child psychology practice with some focused interests in children and adolescents with anxiety, OCD, and depression, Tourette or other tic disorders (CBIT-certified), as well as kids with ADHD and related behavioral issues. My office is in the Cotswold neighborhood, convenient to much of the greater Charlotte area.
"When I approach a child, he inspires in me two sentiments — tenderness for what he is and respect for what he may become."

The Services I Offer
With You Every Step of the Way
Diagnostic Interview
The diagnostic interview allows me to gain a better understanding of parents' concerns, lead us toward a diagnosis, if appropriate, and determine a plan of action.
When conducting this initial interview, I use a combination of methods that may include:
Questionnaires and Behavior Rating Scales
Developmental history intake (i.e., background information and current concerns)
Structured clinical interview
DSM-5 diagnostic criteria
Individual Therapy
I am a cognitive-behavioral therapist. I use empirically validated treatment protocols, whenever possible, which results in short-term, goal-oriented interventions. At the same time I hope to provide a warm and relaxed environment for my clients.
Family Therapy
When working with children and teens, I believe that the family is a critical part of the process. It is important for me to understand the home, school and social environments in order to provide the most effective therapy. When possible I like to include parents during sessions, which equips them with tools and insights to help their child in the outside world. When needed and with permission, I can work with teachers, doctors, and other influential figures who play a role in the child’s life.
